A graduate of Bennington HS, Sandy led the Bennington HS Bulldogs to the 1A State Volleyball Championship in 1977. Sandy helped lead Cloud County volleyball to a two-year record of 73-26-4. A two-time first-team All-Region VI and two-time All-Region VI Tournament team selection, she became the first Cloud volleyball player to be named NJCAA All-American in 1979 after leading the Lady Thunderbirds to the Region VI Championship and a trip to the NJCAA National Tournament.
