Known by many as “Mr. Cloud County”, Wally Carlson touched thousands of lives in his 28 years at CCCC. Wally served as Cloud’s first soccer coach from 1968-1970, leading the Thunderbirds to their first Prairie Junior College Conference Championship in 1970. He was assistant men’s basketball coach from 1967-1976, during which time the T-Birds compiled a record of 176-96 and won five Region VI Sub-Regional Championships. Wally was probably best known for his role as dean of admissions, a position he held until his retirement in 1995. Wally Carlson passed away October 16, 2006.
