Kathleen Powers was an impact player for the Cloud County Community College softball program between 1994 and 1995 under Cloud County Athletics Hall of Fame coach Lorin Miller. She helped the T-Birds to back-to-back winning seasons and was a two-time First-Team All-Region VI selection. Powers capped off her career at Cloud County with a sophomore season that saw her hit .459 with 34 runs driven in. Her performance as a T-Bird earned her the opportunity to continue her playing career at Emporia State University from 1996-1997. In 1996, Powers was a member of the first ESU team in program history to make the NCAA Tournament. She was inducted into the Emporia State Athletics Hall of Fame in 2017.
