The Lady Thunderbirds, under the direction of head coach Jerry McCarty and assistant Rosemary Holloway, finished with a 28-4 overall record and a second straight Region VI Championship. Cloud County’s postseason success continued on the national stage as the T-Birds finished as the national runner-up, losing a tight 63-61 title game to Truett-McConnell (GA). It marked the first time a women’s basketball team from Kansas played for an NJCAA National Championship.
