Dennis Erkenbrack ended his coaching career as the winningest coach in the history of Kansas junior college men’s basketball with a career record of 502-225. In seventeen of Erkenbrack’s twenty-three seasons his steams won 20 or more games, including a string of nine consecutive from 1985-1994. Dennis was named Region VI Coach-of-the-Year in 1980 after leading the Thunderbirds to their first-ever Region VI Championship. Erkenbrack served as athletic director from 1977 until his retirement in 1998, during this time Cloud County captured fifteen Region VI Championships in eight different sports. Dennis was inducted into the Kansas Basketball Coaches Association Hall of Fame in 2002.
