Deana (Wilson) Ruud came to Cloud County Community College in the fall of 1995 after a stellar high school career at Royal Valley High School. She ended her two-year career at CCCC as the school’s all-time leading scorer (1,025 points) and rebounder (618). She helped the Lady Thunderbirds to a 50-15 record a Sub-Regional Championship in 1996 and a third-place finish in the KJCCC West in 1997, the school’s first year as a member. Deana was named first-team All KJCCC West and first-team All-Region VI in 1997. She was the first Lady Thunderbird to reach 1,000 career points and remains the only one to grab 600 rebounds. She finished her athletic career as a member of the Wichita State University women’s basketball team.
