Box Score 2 The Cloud County Community College softball team recorded its most hits in a Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference (KJCCC) game since April 17, 2025, tallying 13 hits in a 13-3 five-inning win over Neosho County Community College on Tuesday, April 7 in Chanute, Kansas. The win snapped the T-Birds' 17-game losing streak to the Panthers, dating back to 2019.
Cloud County (9-11, 2-4 KJCCC) registered five extra-base hits while eight of the nine T-Birds in the starting lineup had at least one hit and all nine scored at least one run.
Freshmen
Maddie Harold,
Brooke Lougheed and
Jaci Vonlintel along with sophomores
Berkleigh Curtis and
Maliyah Koster had two hits apiece. Freshmen
Ava Boden,
Hannah Gardner and
Kadence Hall finished with one hit each.
Koster and Gardner both hit two-run home runs in the top of the first inning, while Koster added a run-scoring double in the second. Koster led the team with three RBI. Gardner, Boden, Curtis and Lougheed collected two RBI each. Curtis led the T-Birds with three runs scored.
Harold (4-6) pitched her fifth complete game of the season to earn her fourth win in the circle. The right-hander allowed three runs on eight hits while striking out nine and walking one. Harold now has eight or more strikeouts in five games this season.
After Koster's and Gardner's home runs gave the T-Birds a 4-0 lead at the end of the first, Cloud County added three more runs in the second frame. Boden singled to score Curtis, who led-off the inning with a walk. Boden later scored on Koster's RBI double, while Harold singled to score Koster.
Neosho County answered with a run in the bottom half of the second inning, but the T-Birds put up two more runs in the third to take a 9-1 lead. Curtis delivered an RBI single to score Vonlintel. Curtis later scored when Boden reached on a defensive error.

Neosho County added one run in the third, but Cloud County extended the lead to 13-2 with four runs in the top half of the fourth inning. Hall recorded a two-out infield single to score freshman second baseman
Allison Adams. The T-Birds then registered back-to-back two-out doubles by Curtis and Lougheed to score the final three runs of the inning.
The Panthers plated one run on one hit in the fifth before suffering the run-rule defeat.

The bounce back win in game two allowed Cloud County to split its doubleheader with Neosho County, after falling 15-0 in five innings in the opener. Neosho County homered six times in the win, including a pair of home runs by freshman infielder Abbi Godfrey. Godfrey and four other Panthers provided three RBI each.
In the circle, Boden took the loss, tossing two innings, while freshman
Morgan Williams worked two innings in relief.
Offenisvely, Cloud County was limited to three hits.
Cloud County makes a quick turnaround as the T-Birds host another KJCCC doubleheader against Fort Scott Community College on Wednesday, April 8. First pitch is scheduled for 1 pm from the CCCC Softball Field.
