Box Score The Cloud County Community College softball team had its 2026 season end on Friday, May 8 with a 7-2 loss against Allen Community College in an elimination game in the NJCAA Division 2 Plains District Softball Tournament in Overland Park, Kansas.
Cloud County fell behind 6-0 after being held without a hit through the first four innings.
Allen took a 1-0 first inning lead off a RBI sacrifice fly by freshman second baseman Addie Keys.
The Red Devils added a pair of runs in the top of the third to take a 3-0 lead. Keys and sophomore first baseman Kalyse Abernathy both recorded RBI hits in the frame.
Allen extended the lead to 4-0 in the top half of the fourth on a RBI single by freshman outfielder Harper Desmarteau.
Cloud County's first hit of the game came on a one-out single to left by sophomore outfielder
Berkleigh Curtis in the bottom of the fifth inning. Sophomore catcher
Emalee Johnson also reached in the fifth, but Johnson and Curtis were both left stranded on base at the end of the inning.
Allen added two more runs in the top of the sixth, including a solo home run by freshman Meaa Allen to make the score 6-0.
Cloud County's only runs came in the bottom half of the sixth when freshman pitcher
Ava Boden smacked a two-run home run to left-center field, scoring freshman outfielder
Brooke Lougheed.
However, Allen closed the game with an additional run in the seventh on a RBI single by sophomore catcher Makayla Hirschmann.
The T-Birds totaled just four hits and were outhit in the contest, 12-4. Boden and Curtis had one hit each. Sophomore first baseman
Kendal Ratzlaff and freshman third baseman
Hannah Gardner also posted one hit apiece.
Boden suffered the loss, allowing seven runs, six earned, on 10 hits with one walk and two strikeouts in 6.2 innings pitched. Freshman
Maddie Harold pitched a third of an inning, allowing two hits but no runs.
Cloud County concludes the season with a 20-21 overall record.
