The Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference (KJCCC) announced Tuesday, April 21 that Cloud County's Conor Matthews has been named the conference Men's Outdoor Field Athlete of the Week.

This is Matthews' first weekly honor in his career, and he is the second T-Bird men's athlete to secure a conference weekly field athlete award this season. Sophomore thrower Braylon Bittel earned KJCCC Men's Outdoor Field Athlete of the Week on March 24.

Matthews is a native of Newcastle, Australia. The freshman took second place in the Men's Triple Jump at the 2026 Emporia State Relays with a mark of 50'4.5", which moved him into the number five spot on the NJCAA Division I Outdoor Track and Field performance list this season and qualified him for next month's NJCAA Division I Outdoor Track and Field Championships.

Cloud County will compete again this Thursday, April 23 in the Fort Hays State University Alex Francis Classic. It is a one-day event in Hays, Kansas.
