Cloud County Community College freshman Conor Matthews has been named the NJCAA Men's Outdoor National Field Athlete of the Week. Matthews has become the first Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference (KJCCC) athlete during the 2026 outdoor season to earn national accolades.

Matthews took second place in the Men's Triple Jump at the 2026 Emporia State University Relays with a mark of 50'4.5", which moved him into the number five spot on the NJCAA Division I Outdoor Track and Field performance list this season and qualified him for next month's NJCAA Division I Outdoor Track and Field Championships.

Matthews and the Cloud County men's and women's track and field teams will return to action on Thursday, April 23 at the Fort Hays State University Alex Francis Classic.
