The Cloud County Community College men's track and field team continues to climb in the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) National Track and Field Rating Index (TFRI).
The T-Birds have moved up two spots in the week four rankings and are now the 11th-ranked team in NJCAA Division I.
The Cloud County Men's 4x400M relay team broke the school record at last week's Emporia State University Relays with a time of 3:08.38. Members of the team are sophomores
Barafa Abdulazis and
Alpha Mpofu and freshmen
Sonycko Ilet and
Gage Taylor.
Mpofu broke another school record in the 400M Dash, winning the race with a time of 46.21. Mpofu also captured a runner-up finish in the Men's 200M Dash with a time of 20.71.
Sophomore
Abdelaziz Benbrahim scored a runner-up finish in the Men's 800M Run with a national qualifying time of 1:53.21.
Freshman
Conor Matthews recorded a runner-up finish in the Men's Triple Jump with a national qualifying mark of 50'4.5". This week, Matthews has been named the Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference Men's Outdoor Field Athlete of the Week and the NJCAA Men's Outdoor National Field Athlete of the Week. Matthews has become the first KJCCC athlete during the 2026 outdoor season to earn national accolades.
The T-Birds head to Hays, Kansas on Thursday, April 23 for the Alex Francis Classic, marking their final tune-up before the 2026 Region 6/KJCCC Outdoor Track & Field Championships next week.
