The Cloud County Community College men's track and field team traveled to Emporia, Kansas for the 2026 Emporia State University Relays on Thursday, April 16.
The Cloud County men's 4x400M relay team broke the school record with a time of 3:08.38. Members of the team are sophomores
Barafa Abdulazis and
Alpha Mpofu and freshmen
Sonycko Ilet and
Gage Taylor.
A second T-Bird team of
Jabari Branche,
Trystan Green,
Nicholas Johnson and
Timmy Oladimeji finished in sixth place with a time of 3:20.35.
Mpofu broke another school record in the 400M Dash, winning the race with a time of 46.21. Abdulazis added a fifth place finish with a national qualifying time of 47.23.
Mpofu also captured a runner-up finish in the Men's 200M Dash with a time of 20.71. Ilet placed eighth with a time of 21.62.
Sophomore
Abdelaziz Benbrahim also scored a runner-up finish in the Men's 800M Run with a national qualifying time of 1:53.21. Johnson added a fifth place finish with a time of 1:54.86.
Freshman
Conor Matthews recorded a runner-up finish in the Men's Triple Jump with a national qualifying mark of 50'4.5". Freshman
Daiquan Monteith finished fourth with a jump of 47'4.5", while freshman
Evan Carr placed eighth overall with a leap of 42'05.".
Monteith also posted a third place finish in the Men's Long Jump with a mark of 22'11.25".
Sophomore
Cody Sharp captured a national qualifying mark in the Men's Javelin with a throw of 175'5" to place fifth overall. Sophomore
DJ Holman notched a seventh place finish with a throw of 168'2".
Branche placed eighth in the Men's 400M Hurdles with a time of 56.61.
In the Men's Discus, freshman
Jadrian Riley posted a ninth place finish with a toss of 138'5".
Freshman
Kacper Kurzewski jumped a season-best 15'11.75" in the Men's Pole Vault to place ninth overall.
Sophomore
Mory Diop recorded a tenth place finish in the Men's High Jump at a height of 6'.05".
Sophomore Gelasa Degefa Abdisa placed tenth in the Men's 1,500M Run with a time of 4:12.98.
Cloud County will send a small squad to the Coyote Classic in Salina, Kansas on Friday, April 17 and Saturday, April 18, hosted by Kansas Wesleyan University.
