Box Score Sophomore Regina Donanu scored a game-high 32 points and freshmen Christal Long and Mary Akinde both had double-doubles as Barton Community College defeated Cloud County Community College by a final score of 88-64 on Saturday, March 7 in the opening round of the 2026 NJCAA Region 6 Division I Women's Basketball Tournament.
The T-Birds conclude the 2025-2026 season with a 14-16 overall record. The Cougars have improved to 15-16 and have advanced to the Region 6 Tournament quarterfinals where they will face No. 9 Dodge City Community College on Tuesday, March 10.

Camiah Muldrow led three T-Birds in double-figures. Muldrow scored 21 points on 8-of-14 shooting and a 4-of-4 effort from the free-throw line. Freshman forward

The T-Birds led 5-4 following a Makela three-pointer with 8:01 remaining in the first quarter. Barton then went on an 18-2 run over the next five minutes to grab a 15-point first quarter lead and never looked back. The Cougars led by as many as 18 points in the opening quarter and held a 48-28 lead at the halftime break.

Leila Washington cut the lead to 52-40 at the 4:25 mark of the third quarter. Barton responded with a 15-7 spurt to end the period leading 67-45.
Barton captured a 31-point advantage on a layup by sophomore Alaina Eck midway through the fourth quarter. The Cougars' lead never dipped below 20 points over the final ten minutes.
In the loss, Cloud County shot 25-of-63 (39.7 percent) from the field, 8-of-29 (27.6 percent) from three-point range, and 6-of-9 (66.7 percent) from the foul line. The Cougars crushed the T-Birds, 41-24, on the glass. Barton held a 15-8 advantage in second-chance points, and a 36-22 advantage in points in the paint.
Barton has won four straight and 14 of its last 15 meetings with Cloud County. The T-Birds have not won in Great Bend since February 28, 2017.Â
