Box Score The Cloud County Community College women's basketball team closed out the 2025-2026 regular season with a 72-60 road victory over Independence Community College in Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference (KJCCC) play on Wednesday, March 4.
The T-Birds conclude the regular season with a 14-15 overall record and a 10-14 mark in KJCCC action. Cloud County has drawn the No. 10 seed in the 2026 NJCAA Region 6 Women's Division I Basketball Tournament and will travel to Great Bend, Kansas to face the Barton Cougars (14-16, 12-12 KJCCC) on Saturday, March 7 at 5:30 pm.
Cloud County held Independence to 32.9 percent shooting from the field and 15.0 percent shooting from long-range while outscoring the Pirates 38-30 in points in the paint.
The T-Birds were led by 20 points each from sophomore forward
Leila Washington and freshman guard
Camiah Muldrow. Washington registered her second consecutive double-double performance and her third double-double in the last four games as she pulled down a game-high 13 rebounds. Muldrow added six rebounds and three assists.

Sofija Todorovic posted 10 points and five rebounds off the bench.

Shea Wurtz and freshman
Sadie Cornell both had six points apiece.
Cloud County has now won four straight and seven of their last eight games in the series with Independence.
The T-Birds led by six points at 13-7 following a Muldrow three-pointer with 4:04 remaining in the first quarter. The Pirates responded with a 7-0 run to take a 14-13 lead. The final three minutes featured a pair of lead changes and two ties with Independence leading 20-18 entering the second frame.
A trey by Makela, followed by a bucket by Wurtz, gave Cloud County a 23-20 advantage early in the second quarter. Independence put together another 7-0 run, capped by a three-pointer from freshman guard Rylan Chandler, to lead 27-23 with 6:52 to play in the first-half. The T-Birds answered with a 13-2 run of their own to build a seven point lead at 36-29 with 1:42 remaining. Independence cut the lead to 36-33 at the break.
The two teams played each other even in the third period, with Cloud County shooting over 42 percent from the floor in the frame to offset their six third quarter turnovers. The T-Birds took a 50-47 lead into the fourth quarter.
Cloud County opened the final ten minutes on an 8-4 run to build a seven point lead again at 58-51 with 6:32 to play. Independence cut the lead to three following a triple from freshman forward Flutra Mehmeti with 6:14 to go, but the T-Birds responded with an 8-1 run to grab the first double-digit lead of the game at 66-56 with 47 seconds remaining. The T-Birds then made six free-throws in the final 40 seconds to post their third KJCCC road win of the season.
The T-Birds shot 26-of-65 (40.0 percent) from the floor and 3-of-13 (23.1 percent) from behind the arc. The T-Birds were also 17-of-26 (65.4 percent) from the free-throw line.
Cloud County hits the road to open 2026 NJCAA Region 6 Women's Division I Basketball Tournament play against Barton Community College. The T-Birds suffered a 66-39 loss at Barton on January 26. Cloud County shot a season-low 12-of-57 (21.1 percent) from the field in dropping their third consecutive game in their series with Barton. Cloud County has lost its last ten games played in Great Bend, last winning 81-40 on February 18, 2017.
