Cloud County struck for four runs in the top of the first inning of game one. Freshman center fielder
Ava Boden led off the game with a single, and then scored on an RBI base hit by sophomore short stop
Maliyah Koster. The T-Birds loaded the bases before freshman outfielder
Brooke Lougheed scored Koster on a sacrifice fly to center field. Freshman designated player
Callie Jones followed with a two-RBI single, driving in freshman third baseman
Hannah Gardner and sophomore pitcher
Berkleigh Curtis.
Central Community College slowly chipped away at the T-Birds' lead by scoring two runs in the first, one run in the second, and a tying run in the third when sophomore Kami Kaskie raced home on a passed ball.
Following a scoreless fourth inning, Cloud County regained the lead in the top half of the fifth when Koster crushed a go-ahead two-run home run, scoring freshman outfielder
Kadence Hall.
Freshman pitcher
Maddie Harold worked the final three innings, limiting the Raiders to one run on two hits while striking out three batters and walking one to earn her second win of the season. Curtis was rendered a no-decision after going four innings and allowing four runs, two earned, on seven hits with two walks.
Koster finished 2-for-4 with a home run, two runs scored and three RBI. Gardner also had two hits in the win.
Cloud County completed the sweep in game two behind a solid outing in the circle from freshman pitcher
Morgan Williams, while freshman catcher
Emily Carver hit a massive run-scoring triple to break a 4-all tie in the sixth inning.
Carver's one-out triple scored freshman first baseman
Jaci Vonlintel from second and marked Carver's second hit of the game. Carver eventually scored on a passed ball to extend Cloud County's lead to 6-4.
Williams pitched six full innings, giving up four runs on 12 hits while recording three strikeouts. Boden entered to pitch in relief of Williams in the seventh, throwing one inning of two-hit ball while allowing no runs to earn the save.
The T-Birds led 4-0 early after Koster doubled to drive home Boden and then later scored on an infield error in the top of the first inning. Gardner doubled to score Curtis in the top half of the third, and Boden singled home Vonlintel in the fourth.
Central Community College brought eight batters to the plate and scored all four of its runs in the bottom half of the fifth inning.
