Box Score The Cloud County Community College women's basketball team earned an 80-73 comeback victory on the road over Fort Hays Tech Northwest in Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference (KJCCC) play on Wednesday, January 7. Cloud County moves to 7-7 overall and 3-6 in conference play with the win.
The T-Birds were down by as many as 13 in the first half, going into the locker room down 39-31. Cloud County came out of the break on a 14-3 run to grab its first lead of the second-half at 45-42 on a three-pointer by freshman guard
Marilyn Soeken with 6:37 to play in the third quarter. The T-Birds connected on five treys in the period and won the quarter, 25-19. Cloud County then outscored Fort Hays Tech Northwest 24-15 over the final ten minutes, shooting over 54 percent from the floor and 78 percent from the foul line in the fourth quarter.
As a team, the T-Birds shot 22-of-62 (35.5 percent) from the field, 8-of-28 (28.6 percent) from deep, and were 28-of-40 (70.0 percent) from the free-throw line. The team's 40 free-throw attempts tied their season-high while their 28 made free-throws was the team's second most makes this year. Cloud County outrebounded Fort Hays Tech Northwest, 43-40, and collected 24 points off turnovers in the win.
Four T-Birds had double-digits, led by freshman guard
Camiah Muldrow who had 32 points in 32 minutes of action. Muldrow shot 8-of-19 from the field, 3-of-5 from deep and 13-of-20 from the foul line.
Freshman guard
Amanda Makela had 12 points, all coming in the second-half. Makela was a perfect 4-of-4 from the charity stripe.
Sophomore forward
Shea Wurtz tallied her fifth double-double of the season with 10 points and a game-high 14 rebounds. Wurtz went 4-of-5 from the line.
Sophomore forward
Leila Washington had 10 points and five rebounds in 16 minutes of play before fouling out of the contest.
Freshman forward
Sofija Todorovic came off the bench for nine points and nine rebounds, while Soeken finished with three points and six rebounds.
The T-Birds are back on the road on Saturday, January 10 when they face Garden City Community College at 2 pm.
