The Cloud County Community College women's basketball team opens a two-game road swing at Fort Hays Tech Northwest in Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference (KJCCC) play on Wednesday, January 7.
Tip-off from Max L. Jones Fieldhouse is set for 5:30 pm (MST)/6:30 pm (CST) and the game will be broadcast on the
Tech Tigers Sports Network.
Cloud County (6-7, 2-6 KJCCC) is coming off an 81-67 home win over Pratt Community College on January 7 in Arley Bryant Gymnasium. Sophomore forward
Leila Washington led the barrage with 28 points and 11 rebounds for her third double-double of the season. Washington scored her season-high 28 points on 10-of-15 shooting from the field and a 5-of-9 performance from behind the arc. Washington also went a perfect 3-of-3 from the free-throw line. For her efforts, Washington was named the KJCCC Division I Women's Basketball Player of the Week.
Washington enters this week ranked in the top ten in the conference in points per game (13.9 ppg), field-goal percentage (50.4 percent), three-point percentage (44.7 percent) and blocks per game (1.4 bpg), where she's tied with Barton's Mary Akinde for first in the conference.
Freshman guard
Camiah Muldrow reached double-figures in scoring for the eleventh consecutive game as she put up 18 points and a team-high five assists against Pratt. Muldrow, the team's leading scorer, averages 19.2 points per game to go with 5.0 rebounds, 4.1 assists and 1.0 steal per contest.
Sophomore forward
Shea Wurtz scored eight points and added six rebounds against Pratt. Wurtz is third on the team in scoring at 10.9 points per game while she leads the team on the glass at 8.2 rebounds per game. Wurtz is also the team-leader in steals at 2.3 steals per contest.
Freshman guard
Jelena Jankovic, making her first start of the season, had nine points and three assists vs. Pratt. Jankovic is averaging 6.8 points per game with 19 made three-pointers on a 38.8 percent shooting clip from long-range. Freshman guard
Amanda Makela leads the team with 25 made three-pointers and is averaging 8.8 points per game after finishing with eight points and two made three-pointers against Pratt. Off the bench, freshman forward
Sofija Todorovic is averaging 10.8 points per game on 47.2 percent shooting to go with 5.7 rebounds per game.
Fort Hays Tech Northwest has lost 26 consecutive games and is just 2-48 overall in their last 50 contests. The Tigers are 0-14 on the year and 0-8 in KJCCC play following a 107-37 loss at No. 1 Dodge City Community College on January 3. Fort Hays Tech Northwest's last victory was a 75-67 home win over Independence Community College on January 18, 2025.
Sophomore Vitória Fernandes leads Fort Hays Tech Northwest with 10.4 points per game and an average of 4.4 rebounds per game. Fernandes is the lone double-digit scorer for the Tigers, who average 46.0 points per game as a team.
Cloud County has won the last five meetings with Fort Hays Tech Northwest, dating back to 2023. Cloud County swept the regular season meeting last year, including recording an 89-43 road win in Goodland on November 30, 2024.
