Box Score In their first game of the 2026 calendar year, the Cloud County Community College women's basketball team brought home an 81-67 home win over Pratt Community College in Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference (KJCCC) play on Saturday, January 3. The win lifts the T-Birds to 6-7 overall and 2-6 in KJCCC play.
Sophomore forward
Leila Washington led the barrage with 28 points and 11 rebounds for her third double-double of the season. Washington scored her season-high 28 points on 10-of-15 shooting from the field and a 5-of-9 performance from behind the arc. Washington also went a perfect 3-of-3 from the free-throw line.
Washington was joined in double-figures by freshman guard
Camiah Muldrow who had 18 points, marking her eleventh consecutive double-digit scoring game. Muldrow added a team-high five assists. Freshman guard
Jelena Jankovic, making her first start of the season, had nine points and three assists. Sophomore forward
Shea Wurtz chipped in eight points and six rebounds, while freshman guard
Amanda Makela had eight points with two made three-pointers.
As a team, Cloud County buried eight shots from deep and also went 19-of-24 (79.2 percent) from the foul line. The T-Birds scored 21 points off turnovers compared to 16 for Pratt. The T-Birds also outscored the Beavers 7-0 in second-chance points and 10-4 in bench points.
Pratt led by five points midway through the first quarter before Cloud County went on a 12-7 run to tie the game at 23 at the end of the period. The T-Birds then dominated the second frame, outscoring Pratt 19-7 in the period. Cloud County forced eight turnovers while limiting Pratt to just three made field-goals in the second quarter. Cloud County led 42-30 at the intermission.
Cloud County pushed their lead out to 18 points early in the third quarter. Pratt shot 61.5 percent from the floor and hit 7-of-11 from the free-throw line in the period, cutting the deficit to five points at 60-55 entering the fourth quarter. Pratt then opened the final ten minutes on a 6-2 run to cut the lead down to one point with 8:53 to play but did not capitalize. Cloud County embarked on a 13-4 run to push their lead back to double-digits at 75-65 with 3:50 remaining. The T-Birds ended the game on a 6-2 run to take home the 81-67 victory.
Cloud County will be back in action on Wednesday, January 7 when they travel to Fort Hays Tech Northwest in KJCCC play. Tip-off is slated for 5:30 pm (MST) in Goodland, Kansas.
