The Cloud County Community College women's and men's track and field teams sent select student-athletes to the Ward Haylett Invitational in Manhattan, Kansas on Friday, May 9. The meet, hosted by Kansas State University, marks the final meet for the T-Birds before the 2025 NJCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships, slated for May 15-17 in Hutchinson, Kansas.
On the women's side, Cloud County sophomores
Nontokozo Ncube and
Mercy Angaamchaab both broke the school record in the 800M Run. Ncube finished in fourth place individually with a personal-record time of 2:07.19, which ranks as the top mark in the NJCAA this season. Angaamchaab followed in fifth place with a time of 2:07.61, which is the second best overall mark in the NJCAA this year.
For the men's team, freshman
Abdelaziz Benbrahim earned a first place finish in the Men's 800M Run with a personal-record time of 1:49.45.
Sophomore
Ethan Ochana captured a seventh place finish in the Men's 3,000M Steeplechase with a time of 9:58.53.
Freshman
Barafa Abdulazis posted an eighth place finish in the Men's 400M Run with a time of 48.56.
Freshman
Gelasa Abdisa notched a ninth place finish in the Men's 1,500M Run with a time of 4:11.30.
In field events, freshman
Braylon Bittel landed a fifth place finish in the Men's Discus with a throw of 144'0". Freshman
Timothy Asa Berry followed in sixth place with a throw of 142'4".
Three T-Birds placed in the top ten in the Men's Hammer Throw. Berry led the way with a fifth place finish with a throw of 154'1". Bittel placed eighth overall with a personal-record throw of 140'10". Sophomore
Jaren Aurand placed ninth overall with a throw of 132'0".
Cloud County also had three athletes place in the top ten in the Men's Javelin Throw. Freshman
Cody Sharp earned an eighth place finish with a personal-record throw of 161'3". Freshman
DJ Holman followed in ninth place with a throw of 158'7", while Aurand was 10th overall with a throw of 154'6".
In the Men's High Jump, sophomore
Trey Collins captured an eighth place finish at a height of 6'4.25".
