Postseason play begins on Saturday, March 8 as the Cloud County women's basketball team faces the Colby Trojans in the first round of the 2025 Region 6 Women's Basketball Tournament.
Tipoff from Arley Bryant Gymnasium in Concordia is set for 2 pm and the game will be streamed live on the
T-Bird Sports Network with Spencer Farha on the call. Fans can also listen to the game on NCK 94.9 with Austin McNorton calling the action.
Cloud County (17-12) enters the Region 6 Tournament as the No. 7 seed after finishing 12-12 in Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference play this season. Colby (15-15) finished in a tie for the No. 9 seed, two games behind the T-Birds. The Trojans defeated Fort Hays Tech Northwest, 70-40, on March 1 in their final game of the regular season to snap a three-game losing streak.
Cloud County and Colby met twice during the regular season. The Trojans defeated the T-Birds 77-58 on December 4 in Colby. In that game, Colby ended the night outrebounding Cloud County 48-23, resulting in 13 second-chance points for the Trojans compared to five for the T-Birds. Cloud County was also outscored 48-2 in points off the bench. Cloud County earned a season-split with the Trojans, beating Colby 58-48 in Concordia on February 5. Three players finished in double-figures for Cloud County, led by freshman guardÂ
DaNae Crosby who had a game-high 22 points, including a 6-of-6 effort from the free-throw line. Crosby also had five assists and three steals. Sophomore guardÂ
TiAna Davis had 12 points after going 8-of-8 from the foul line. Davis also tallied five rebounds. Freshman forwardÂ
Shea Wurtz contributed a double-double with 10 points and 11 rebounds, including eight on the defensive glass. Wurtz also had three assists, two steals and a blocked shot.
Cloud County has won five of the last six matchups against Colby, including a streak of four-straight wins before the Trojans defeated the T-Birds in Colby earlier this season.Â
With a win, Cloud County would advance to face No. 2-seed Hutchinson in the second round of the Region 6 Tournament on Tuesday, March 11 at 5:30 pm in Hutchinson.
