Box Score The Cloud County Community College women's basketball team wrapped up the regular season with a 77-71 road win over Pratt Community College on Wednesday, March 5. The T-Birds improve to 17-12 overall and 12-12 in Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference play with the victory.
The Beavers led 18-16 at the end of the first quarter after they shot 50 percent from the field and outrebounded the T-Birds 11-4 over the first ten minutes of action. Cloud County opened the second period on a 21-8 run, taking the first double-digit lead of the game at 37-26 on a three-pointer by freshman guard
DaNae Crosby at the 2:26 mark. The T-Birds extended its lead to 13 on a jump shot by freshman forward
Talasia Thomas. Cloud County outscored Pratt 23-15 in the second quarter, but the Beavers scored the final seven points of the half to trail 39-33 at the break.
The T-Birds were dominant in the third quarter. Cloud County went on a 7-2 run to start the period, grabbing a double-digit advantage at 46-35 following a trey by sophomore guard

Shea Wurtz scored seven straight points to put the T-Birds up 55-39 midway through the third frame. Cloud County shot 9-of-16 (56.3 percent) from the floor and connected on three shots from long-range, with Wurtz knocking down a pair of triples, to take a 68-52 lead into the fourth quarter.
The T-Birds scored the first six points of the fourth quarter, including back-to-back baskets by freshman forward
Lilliana Petersen, to take their biggest lead of the night at 74-55 with 7:01 remaining. Cloud County was then held to three free-throws the rest of the way. Pratt went on a 12-0 run to pull back to within seven points at 74-67 with 1:02 to play. After battling through a scoring drought of six minutes and five seconds, Davis made three free-throws over the final minute to secure the victory for the T-Birds.
Cloud County recorded 17 steals and forced Pratt into committing 29 turnovers, leading to 30 points off turnovers for the T-Birds. Cloud County shot 28-of-64 (43.8 percent) overall and 5-of-19 (26.3 percent) from three-point range. The T-Birds also went 16-of-27 (59.3 percent) from the foul line.
Crosby and Wurtz led Cloud County with 15 points each. Crosby tallied a team-high eight assists to go with three steals and two rebounds. Wurtz finished with a team-high seven rebounds and four steals. Thomas contributed 14 points, three steals and two rebounds. Davis provided 11 points, four assists and four steals. Petersen chipped in nine points. Freshman guard
Lauren Marron added five points and three steals, while Smich and freshman forward
Meilin Guo had four points each. Guo also provided five rebounds.
Cloud County will open 2025 Region 6 Tournament play at home on Saturday, March 8 at 2 pm. Final brackets will be released on Thursday, March 6.
