Box Score 2 The Cloud County Community College softball bats were held in check as the T-Birds lost a Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference doubleheader to No. 17 Johnson County Community College on Saturday, March 29, falling in shutout fashion twice, 5-0 in seven innings and 8-0 in five innings, while manufacturing a combined three hits across the two games.
Johnson County has won ten straight in the series history dating back to 2021. With the pair of losses, Cloud County has dropped to 8-16 overall and 0-4 in conference play.
Cloud County's offense was limited to two hits in game one. Sophomore
Camille Stauffer notched a one-out single in the bottom of the second inning, while freshman short stop
Maliyah Koster picked up a hit in the bottom of the seventh.
Johnson County freshman right-hander Elsa Carrillo pitched all seven innings, allowing no runs and two hits while striking out six.
Sophomore Jaylee Jefferson led the Cavaliers with a 3-for-4 performance. Jefferson collected an RBI double to left in the first inning, recorded a stand-up double to right field and scored a run in the second inning, and added an infield single in the fourth. Freshman Reagan Neitzel drilled a two-run home run to straight center field in the second, part of a three-run inning for the Cavaliers. Freshman Janelle Lang added a second inning double, scoring on an RBI ground out by freshman Lily Hans. Freshman Katie Kolarik had an RBI single to right in the fifth to score sophomore Aspen Burgardt for the final run of the game.
Johnson County scored eight runs on ten hits in game two, taking care of business in five innings. After Neitzel scored sophomore Izzy Carter with an RBI single in the top of the first, the Cavaliers offense plated five runs on five hits in the second, highlighted by Neitzel's three-run home run to center field. Freshman Maddie Murray led off the third inning with a solo shot of her own, while a run-scoring double by freshman Makenzie Yoder capped off the scoring.

Emalee Johnson reached twice. Johnson drew a lead-off walk but was left stranded in the second. Johnson then tallied Cloud County's only hit of game two on a single to center feld in the bottom of the fourth, before being thrown out trying to advance to second base.
Sophomore Jalin Lavers threw all five innings for Johnson County, allowing no runs on one hit and one walk with six strikeouts.
Cloud County continues a six-game homestand on Monday, March 31 when they host Kansas Wesleyan JV for a non-conference doubleheader beginning at 1 pm at the CCCC Softball Field.
