The Cloud County Community College men's track and field team posted an eighth place team finish in the 2025 Region 6 Indoor Track & Field Championships on Sunday, February 23 at the Robert W. Plaster Center in Pittsburg, Kansas. After tallying 110 points, the T-Birds also finished fourth in the Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference West Championships.
Freshman
Abdelaziz Benbrahim led the way with three top-four finishes on his way to being named the Men's Track Athlete of the Meet. Benbrahim secured a second place finish in the Men's 1,000M Run with a time of 2:32.30. Benbrahim added a third place finish in the Men's 800M Run with a time of 1:56.00. Benbrahim punctuated his spectacular weekend by finishing in fourth place individually in the Men's 600M Run with a time of 1:19.63.
Freshman teammate
Barafa Abdulazis was sixth overall in the 600M Run with a time of 1:20.90.
Sophomore
Trey Collins finished second in the Men's High Jump with a leap of 6'6.25". Freshman
Mory Diop cleared a height of 6'4.5" to finish fourth overall in the event.
In the men's weight throw, sophomore
Josh Shelly placed third overall with a throw of 52'8". Sophomore
Jaren Aurand finished in ninth place with a toss of 48'1".
Sophomore
Bradley Nkosi earned a third place finish in the Men's 60M Hurdles with a time of 8.10.
The Men's 4,000M Distance Medley team of
Ethan Ochana,
Koy Behnke,
Cody Sharp and
Gelasa Abdisa recorded a fourth place finish with a time of 11:10.88.
Abdisa added an eighth place finish in the Men's 5,000M Run with a time of 15:53.05. Ochana was tenth overall in the race, crossing the finish line in a time of 16:02.79.
Abdisa also scored a ninth place finish in the Men's One Mile Run with a time of 4:36.39.
Behnke landed ninth place finishes in both the Men's Pole Vault (9'3.5") and the Men's Heptathlon.
Sophomore
Andre Smikle registered a seventh place finish in the Men's Shot Put with a toss of 46'9.5".
Posteseason for the men's track and field team continues in two weeks when the T-Birds head to Lubbock, Texas for the 2025 NJCAAÂ Indoor Track and Field Championships on Friday, March 7 and Saturday, March 8.
