The Cloud County Community College women's basketball team will travel to Arkansas City, Kansas to face the Cowley College Tigers in Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference (KJCCC) play on Tuesday, November 25.
Tip-off from William S. Scott Gymnasium is set for 5:30 pm. The game will be streamed live by the
Cowley Sports Network.
The T-Birds head to Arkansas City with a record of 4-3 and 0-2 in KJCCC action following an 86-80 home loss to Barton Community College on November 22. Prior to that, Cloud County suffered a 73-71 defeat to Seward County Community College in its first conference game of the season.
Cowley College enters Tuesday's game with a record of 4-3 on the year and 0-1 in KJCCC play following a 74-60 road loss to No. 1 Dodge City Community College on November 22.Â
Against Barton, Cloud County shot 31-of-70 (44.3 percent) from the field, 10-of-28 (35.7 percent) from behind the arc, and 8-of-12 (66.7 percent) from the foul line. The T-Birds posted a 44-30 rebound advantage, including a 17-8 edge on the offensive glass. The T-Birds also outscored the Cougars 22-9 in second-chance points and 36-28 on points in the paint.
Sophomore forward
Shea Wurtz led five T-Birds in double-figures with 18 points and eight rebounds. Sophomore forward
Leila Washington totaled 16 points with four made three-pointers to go with eight rebounds and two blocked shots. Freshman guard
Amanda Makela had four treys to finish with 12 points and four assists. Freshman guard
Camiah Muldrow dished out a team-high five assists to go with 11 points, while freshman guardÂ
Jelena Jankovic added 10 points off the bench.
Wurtz scored in double-digits for the fourth time this season. Wurtz is third on the team in scoring at 12.7 points per game. Wurtz is tied for fourth in the KJCCC in steals at 3.1 steals per game, and she's also tied for the team-lead in rebounding at 9.1 rebounds per game, which ranks third overall in the KJCCC.
Washington is also averaging a team-best 9.1 rebounds per game, recording seven rebounds or more in all seven games played this season. Washington is averaging 12.6 points per game on 50.0 percent shooting and leads the team at 53.8 percent shooting from behind the arc, which is the second best shooting mark in the KJCCC. She also leads the conference at 1.6 blocked shots per game.
Makela has connected on a team-best 15 made three-pointers this season. Makela is averaging 9.9 points per game and ranks second on the team with 3.6 assists per game.
Muldrow has scored in double-figures in five consecutive games. Muldrow is averaging 19.6 points per game, which ranks fourth overall in the KJCCC. Muldrow also leads the T-Birds in assists with 4.6 assists per game, which is the third best mark in the KJCCC.
Jankovic has 13 made three-pointers on the season and is averaging 9.0 points per game off the bench for Cloud County.
Freshman forward
Sofija Todorovic scored nine points and grabbed a team-high 15 rebounds off the bench against Barton. Todorovic is second on the team in scoring at 13.4 points per game on a team-best 53.1 percent shooting from the floor. Todorovic is also averaging 7.3 rebounds per game.
Cloud County has lost two straight and three of its last four meetings with Cowley College. Most recently, the Tigers earned an 80-62 win over the T-Birds in Arkansas City on February 26, 2025.
Cowley College is averaging 69.1 points per game, with three players averaging in double-figures in Megan Simon (11.6), Saliyah Henderson-Johnson (11.4) and Aniyah Burney (10.0). The Tigers are led by Todd Clark, the all-time winningest basketball coach in Cowley women's basketball history. Coach Clark is now in his 22nd season as head women's basketball coach at Cowley.
