                    Box Score The Cloud County Community College women's basketball team dropped its season opener 85-82 to Concordia University JV on Saturday, November 1 at Arley Bryant Gymnasium.
Freshman guard 
Camiah Muldrow led the way for the T-Birds with 20 points, eight assists, five rebounds and one steal. Joining her in double-figures was freshman guard 
Amanda Makela who had 18 points off 7-of-13 shooting, including a 4-of-7 performance from behind the arc. Makela also added six rebounds and six assists. Sophomore transfer 
Leila Washington put up 14 points and nine rebounds. Freshman 
Shea Wurtz led Cloud County on the glass with 13 rebounds to go with eight points and five steals. Freshman guard 
Marilyn Soeken added eight points with two made three-pointers, while freshmen 
Jelena Jankovic and 
Sofija Todorovic each chipped in six points.
Early triples from Makela and Soeken enabled Cloud County to capture a 24-15 lead at the end of the first quarter. Jankovic knocked down a three of her own early in the second period to give the T-Birds a 27-17 advantage with 9:20 remaining in the first-half. A later Jankovic trey allowed Cloud County to stretch the margin as far as 14 points with 5:22 to play before the halftime break. Concordia University JV closed the first-half on an 11-6 run to cut the deficit to nine points at 42-33 at the intermission.
The visiting Bulldogs opened the second half on an 18-9 run, tying the game at 51-all with 3:33 remaining in the third frame. A basket in the lane by Washington, followed by a jumper by Makela put the T-Birds in front again at 55-51. Concordia junior Mack Reimer then buried back-to-back three-pointers to put the Bulldogs ahead by two at 57-55 with 1:59 to play in the third. Muldrow responded by knocking down a fade away jumper in the lane before Todorovic scored on a layup, giving Cloud County a 59-57 advantage headed to the fourth quarter.
Concordia took the lead for good at 70-68 with 6:20 to play on a three-pointer by freshman guard Karlee Broberg, one of three made triples for Broberg in the game. The team captured its biggest lead of the contest on a three-pointer by sophomore guard Ona Stutzman to lead 85-79 with 28 seconds remaining. Muldrow banked in a three-pointer on the ensuing possession to pull Cloud County back to within three. Muldrow then forced a turnover in the final seconds but Cloud County missed a look at a three-pointer that would have tied the game at the buzzer.
The Bulldogs were 15-of-38 (39.5 percent) from three-point range, while the T-Birds finished 10-of-26 (38.5 percent) from behind the arc. Cloud County won the battle on the boards, outrebounding Concordia 39-31. The Bulldogs' bench produced 41 points, which was a significant 41-14 advantage for the Bulldogs.
Cloud County will return to action on Friday, November 7 when they take on Neosho County Community College on the opening day of the 2025 BSN Tip-Off Classic at the Hutchinson Sports Arena in Hutchinson, Kansas. Tip time is scheduled for 1 pm.
