The Cloud County Community College women's basketall team will head to Coffeyville, Kansas to face the Coffeyville Red Ravens on Wednesday, December 11.
Tipoff is set for 5:30 pm and the game will be streamed on the
Red Raven Sports Network.
Cloud County improved to 9-2 on the year and 4-2 in Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference play with a 75-61 home win over Independence on December 7. The victory marked Cloud County's seventh consecutive home win to begin the 2024-2025 season. The T-Birds have now won four of their last five meetings with the Pirates.
Sophomore guard
TiAna Davis led the way for Cloud County with 27 points. Davis drilled three treys on the night, while also adding four rebounds, four assists and three steals to the stat sheet as well. Freshman guard
Bre Frazier had 14 points on 6-of-12 shooting. In her first start of the season, freshman forward
Shea Wurtz had nine points and a team-high 15 rebounds, including 10 on the offensive glass. Freshman
Talasia Thomas battled foul trouble but finished with eight points and eight rebounds. Freshman
DaNae Crosby and sophomore
Darcy Lierz had seven points each. Crosby also led the team in assists with five. Freshman
Meilin Guo had three points and seven rebounds.
In the win over the Pirates, Cloud County finished the game with 18 steals, helping to force Independence into committing 26 turnovers, leading to 27 points off turnovers for the T-Birds. Cloud County had just nine turnovers. The T-Birds also outrebounded the Pirates 49-43, ending up with 17 second-chance points, 42 points in the paint, 23 fast break points and 10 points off the bench.
Coffeyville will be the fourth road game in conference action for Cloud County. The T-Birds are 1-2 in conference road games this season with losses to Dodge City and Colby. Cloud County's only road conference win was an 89-43 victory over Fort Hays Tech Northwest on November 30.
The Red Ravens enter the contest with a record of 9-1 and 4-1 in Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference play following a 56-48 road win over Garden City on December 7. Coffeyville started the season 8-0 before falling 66-53 to No. 1 Hutchinson on December 4.
After scoring a season-high 27 points against Independence, Davis is leading the T-Birds in scoring, averaging 13.2 points per game. Davis has scored in double-figures in every conference game so far, increasing her scoring average to 14.8 points per game in conference play. Davis also averages 2.9 assists, 2.8 rebounds and 1.5 steals per game.
Frazier is averaging 12.9 points per game to go along with 2.5 rebounds per game and 2.3 assists per game. Frazier is shooting 83.7 percent from the free-throw line, which ranks as the fourth best free-throw percentage in the Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference.
Thomas is third on the team in scoring at 10.7 points per game, and second on the team in rebounding at 6.4 rebounds per game. Thomas ranks fifth in the Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference in blocked shots at 1.5 blocks per game.
Freshman
Lilliana Petersen, a 6-foot-1 forward from Omaha, Nebraska, did not play against Independence as she was sidelined due to sickness symptoms. Petersen averages 9.3 points per game on 41.6 percent shooting for the year while pulling down an average of 4.4 rebounds per game.
