Box Score The Cloud County Community College women's basketball team dispatched Fort Hays Tech Northwest, 89-43, in a Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference contest on Saturday, November 30 in Max L. Jones Fieldhouse in Goodland, Kansas. The T-Birds improve to 8-1 with the win, starting the year at 8-1 overall for the second time in the last three seasons. Cloud County also improved to 3-1 in conference play with the victory.
The two teams traded points early with Cloud County holding a one point advantage at 7-6 four minutes into the contest. The T-Birds then scored the next nine points, taking its first double-digit advantage at 16-6 on a layup by freshman
Shea Wurtz with 4:04 to go in the first quarter. Cloud County closed out the opening frame on a 13-4 run and led 29-10.

TiAna Davis put the T-Birds ahead by 20 points at 31-11 with 9:36 remaining in the first-half. Davis' basket sparked a 20-3 run that saw Cloud County push its lead out to 35 points at 49-14 with 1:52 left before halftime. Fort Hays Tech Northwest scored the final five points of the half to cut the T-Birds' lead down to 49-19 at the break.
Cloud County continued to pour it on in the second half, pushing their lead out to as many as 48 points en route to the victory.
Cloud County shot 44.6 percent from the field with 10 made three-pointers. The T-Birds held Fort Hays Tech Northwest to 36.7 percent shooting, including just 2-of-13 (15.4 percent) from long-range.
Cloud County forced 34 turnovers in the contest, which led to 34 points off turnovers. Cloud County also owned a 38-30 edge in rebounding, scored 44 points off the bench, and dominated in the paint, scoring 44 points inside to seal the win.
Eleven players scored for Cloud County as seven T-Birds slotted eight or more points.
Freshman
Lilliana Petersen registered 17 points on 6-of-11 shooting, including a 4-of-9 effort from behind the arc. Petersen also had four rebounds.
Wurtz contributed 12 points on a nearly perfect 4-of-5 shooting to go with seven rebounds.
Davis and sophomore
Meilin Guo added 11 points each. Davis also had three rebounds and two assists.
Darcy Lierz,
Lauren Marron and
Talasia Thomas scored eight points each. Lierz and Marron both knocked down two triples in the game. Marron added four rebounds and three assists. Lierz finished with three rebounds and four assists.
Freshman
Bre Frazier had five points. Freshman
DaNae Crosby scored four points with seven rebounds and a team-high seven assists. Freshman KaMbili Nelson had three points, while sophomore
Kiley Smich added two points.
Cloud County will return to action on Wednesday, December 4 at 5:30 pm when they face the Colby Trojans in Colby, Kansas. Colby has lost three in a row following an 87-46 road loss to Garden City on November 30. The Trojans currently sit at 6-4 overall and 1-3 in KJCCC play.
