Box Score Colby, KS- The Cloud County Lady Thunderbirds rolled past the Colby Trojans Wednesday night in landslide fashion with a 72-42 victory. Cloud is now 13-6 overall and 5-3 in Jayhawk Conference play.
With the win Cloud County moves into 6th place in the 14 team Jayhawk Conference.
The T-Birds shot the ball well from deep in the first half to jump out to a big early lead. Cloud connected on seven first half threes to grab a 39-15 halftime lead. Chelcie Kizart did all of her work from deep in the first half, connecting on three from long range.
Despite the hot shooting from three, Cloud was just 7-21 from inside the arc in the first half.
Head Coach Brett Erkenbrack used his bench in the second half and Cloud extended their halftime lead to pick up their most lopsided conference win of the season, 72-42. The T-Birds shot just 29% in the second half.
Cloud went 9-29 from long range for 31% on the night. The Lady Thunderbirds lead Region VI in three point attempts. They shot 33% from the field on the night.
Kaley Broeckelman led Cloud with 15 points. It was Broeckelman's seventh straight game in double figures. She also added 5 rebounds.
Erin Alexander and Darby Price each chipped in with 12. Alexander also had 10 rebounds. Price had 8.
Kristina Farber filled the stat sheet with 4 points, 8 rebounds, 7 assists and 3 steals.
Despite the large margin of victory the T-Birds were outrebounded by the Trojans 55-53.
Cloud will travel to Liberal on Saturday for their third straight road game in a matchup with the Lady Saints of Seward County. Seward currently sits in 5th place in the league and is 13-4 overall and 5-2 in league play. Tip-off is set for 6:00pm.
