It was a tale of two halves for the Lady Thunderbirds and Cowley College on Wednesday night. Cowley used a huge second half to come from behind and beat the T-Birds 74-60. With the loss, the T-Birds fall to 9-4 on the year and 1-1 in Jayhawk Conference play.
Cloud jumped out early and led the entire first half, including a 20-9 lead after the first quarter. The T-Birds led at halftime 36-28 and appeared to be in charge. Kaley Broeckelman scored all 10 of her points in the first half including going 2-3 from three.
The Tigers came out of the halftime break and used a 25-3 run to flip the script and pull ahead by as much as 17 at one point. Cowley hit eight second half threes and outscored the T-Birds 46-24 in the second half. The Tigers went on to win it by a score of 74-60.
Erin Alexander had another big night as she scored 19 points on 9 of 16 shooting to lead the T-Birds. Alexander also had 14 rebounds to notch her second double-double of the season. Sophomore Kristina Farber had a strong night for the T-Birds. The Hoxie, KS native had 11 points and 6 rebounds. Chelcie Kizart had 9 points and 6 rebounds. It was the first time all season that Kizart failed to score in double digits. Darby Price also had 9 points and 6 boards.
The T-Birds shot 43.3% from the field on the night. After hitting four first half three point shots, Cloud went 0-7 from deep in the second half.
The Lady Thunderbrids will now head back on the road Saturday as they travel to Pratt. The Beavers are 7-3, 1-0 on the year and are coming off of a 57-56 home win over Barton County.
