Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 The Cloud County Community College softball team delivered another dramatic win on Thursday, April 30, scoring five runs with two outs in the seventh inning to walk-off Cowley College, 8-7, on Sophomore Day at the CCCC Softball Field in Concordia, Kansas.

The win marked Cloud County's sixth walk-off this year and secured the program's first win against Cowley College since April 2018. The T-Birds previously lost 21 straight to the Tigers, including a 12-3 loss in six innings in game one of Thursday's doubleheader.

Cowley College is currently receiving votes in the latest NJCAA Division II Softball Rankings.

Trailing 7-3 entering the bottom of the seventh, Cloud County sophomore outfielder Berkleigh Curtis started the rally with a lead-off infield single. Freshman first baseman Jaci Vonlintel followed with a pop out to second base and freshman outfielder Brooke Lougheed struck out for the second out of the inning.

Freshman pitcher Maddie Harold kept the game going by crushing a two-run home run to center field to cut the deficit in half at 7-5.

Freshman third baseman Hannah Gardner was hit-by-a-pitch, sophomore catcher Emalee Johnson singled to center field and freshman short stop Allison Adams singled to left to load the bases.

Freshman designated player Emily Carver drew a walk, scoring sophomore courtesy runner Bella Santin.

Following a pitching change by Cowley, freshman outfielder Ava Boden lined a first-pitch two-run double down the right-field line, scoring freshman courtesy runner Kadence Hall and Adams to complete the 8-7 comeback.

The T-Birds' seventh inning surge capped a game that saw Harold throw 127 pitches in seven innings, allowing seven runs, six earned, on nine hits with three walks and one strikeout. Harold has improved to 9-8 on the season.

Harold also went 2-for-4 at the plate with a home run, one run scored and two RBI. Adams, Boden and Johnson also had two-hit performances. Boden drove in a team-high four RBI. Johnson had a triple and scored two runs. Adams also scored a pair of runs.

The comeback win also completed Cloud County's regular-season KJCCC schedule. The T-Birds finished 10-10 in KJCCC play, their most conference wins since 2023.

Cloud County dropped game one 12-3 in six innings. Harold hit a two-run shot in the bottom of the fourth inning and Lougheed added a RBI single to tie the game at 3-3, but Cowley scored nine straight over the next two innings and took a commanding 12-3 lead that it wouldn't surrender.

Harold, the team-leader in homers with 13, went 1-for-2, drew a walk, added a run scored and drove in two more. Boden, Curtis, Johnson and Lougheed tallied one hit each.

Boden took the loss for Cloud County, falling to 5-5 on the season. Boden pitched five innings, allowing six runs, four earned, on eight hits with two strikeouts. Curtis pitched one inning of relief, allowing six runs, two earned, on four hits with one walk.

Cloud County (19-17) will wrap up the regular season on Saturday, May 2 with a non-conference doubleheader at Hutchinson Community College. This will be the first meeting between the T-Birds and Blue Dragons since 2019. Hutchinson (38-12) won the 2026 KJCCC Division I championship outright with a 27-5 record. First pitch is scheduled for 1 pm from the Fun Valley Sports Complex in Hutchinson.
