Cloud County Community College redshirt freshman Simon Baker has been named the Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference (KJCCC) West Division Player of the Week, the conference announced on Tuesday, February 24. The honor marks the first of Baker's career and makes him the first T-Bird to earn weekly recognition this season.

Baker helped power Cloud County to a 3-1 week last week while making a massive impact as the team's designated hitter. Over four games, Baker hit .467 with a .600 on-base percentage. Baker went 7-for-15 at the plate with seven hits and seven RBI, with four of his seven hits going for extra-bases - three triples and one home run.

In a 6-4 win over previously-ranked Weatherford College, Baker delivered one of his strongest performances of the week, going 3-for-4 with two RBI. His solo home run helped power the T-Birds to a 6-0 advantage entering the ninth inning.

Through eleven games, Baker is hitting .367 with 11 hits, including six extra-base hits, nine runs and eight RBI. He leads the team with three triples and has drawn the most base on balls on the club with nine.

Cloud County will host Marshalltown Community College for a four-game series, beginning with a doubleheader on Friday, February 27. First pitch is scheduled for 1 pm.
