The Cloud County Community College volleyball team hosts Hutchinson Community College on Wednesday, September 17 for a Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference (KJCCC) matchup inside Arley Bryant Gymnasium. First serve is set for 6:30 pm, with live coverage available on the
T-Bird Sports Network.
The Cloud County volleyball team has also joined forces with the Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation's Vs. Cancer program to defeat childhood brain cancer, the deadliest disease affecting children in the United States. At this Wednesday's home match, T-Bird volleyball fans are encouraged to wear gold, signifying their support and solidarity with children and families affected by pediatric cancer.
Started by a pediatric brain cancer survivor and former collegiate athlete, Vs. Cancer makes it easy for any sports team, any athlete, and any community to help kids with cancer. As a signature fundraising program of the Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation, Vs. Cancer proceeds fund family support and child life programs in teams' communities, along with lifesaving pediatric brain cancer research.
The Cloud County volleyball team holds a 5-11 record on the season, which includes an 0-2 mark in KJCCC play. This past Saturday, the T-Birds swept Southwestern Community College in straight sets at a home triangular, snapping a six-match losing skid. Cloud County has excelled at home this season, with the victory over the Southwestern Spartans improving the team's home record to 3-1.

Grace Rowland has led the T-Birds offensively with 143 kills, an average of 2.75 kills per set. Redshirt freshman setter
Addyson Ogle has accumulated 156 assists, a 4.11 assists per set average. Freshmen middle hitters

Elizabeth Schuster have been the team's defensive anchors at the net with 30 and 29 total blocks, respectively, while sophomore libero
Beatrice Giusti has paced the back row with a team-high 151 digs, averaging 3.36 digs per set.
Collectively, Cloud County has recorded 521 kills while also accumulating 864 digs. The T-Birds have also totaled 82 blocks and 103 service aces.
Cloud County has lost 18 straight meetings to Hutchinson. The team's last win over the Blue Dragons was a 3-0 home victory on October 7, 2013.
Hutchinson enters this week's matchup under new head coach, Dayana Acevedo Trent. Acevedo Trent comes to Hutchinson after serving as head coach at Odessa College for four seasons. She posted a four-year record of 98-29 with the Wranglers that included two regional championships, two appearances in the NJCAA national tournament and a 10th-place performance in 2024. In 2025, the Blue Dragons are 5-6 overall and 1-2 in conference action. Hutchinson has lost three of their last four matches, including back-to-back losses to Colby and Garden City in KJCCC play.
After Wednesday's home conference match with Hutchinson, Cloud County wll hit the road to face Seward County Community College in conference play on Saturday, September 20, before returning home to face Kansas Wesleyan University JV on Monday, September 22 at 6:30 pm.
