Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 The Cloud County Community College softball team got its first win of the 2025 season, taking game two of a doubleheader against the Central Community College Raiders on Friday, February 28. Central won the first game 11-2, but the T-Birds shut the Raiders down in the second game, winning 13-1 in five innings.

The scoring started early for Cloud County in game two, with the T-Birds batting through the lineup in the opening frame. Cloud County scored five runs in the top of the first inning. Central freshman Braelyn Sindelar scored the lone run of the game for the Raiders on a solo home run in the bottom of the third inning. The T-Birds quickly responded, tallying two runs in the top of the fourth and six runs in the top of the fifth to capture the 13-1 victory.

Cloud County finished the game with 13 runs on 13 hits while the Raiders also walked an additional eight batters. Berkleigh Curtis, Emalee Johnson, Bella Santin and Camille Stauffer all had two hit performances. Stauffer had the only extra-base hit for the squad with a two-RBI double, ending the game with a team-high four RBI. Curtis and Johnson had two stolen bases each.

In the circle, sophomore Breckyn Whitney picked up her first win of the season after tossing five innings, allowing one run on five hits.

Sophomore Paige Mahler took the loss for the T-Birds in the opener. The right-hander gave up 12 hits, including a double to Sindelar, a triple to Hannah Dahlke, and a home run to Jordyn Trotta. Mahler also allowed four walks with a pair of strikeouts.

Central Community College led 8-0 entering the fourth inning. Stauffer drilled her second home run of the season with a solo shot in the top of the fourth. Curtis and Shaylee Keslar added runs in the fifth, but the T-Birds were limited to only seven hits in the game and were unable to overcome four defensive errors in the contest.

Sindelar pitched all five innings for the Raiders to pick up the win. Sindelar struck out two and walked three.

Stauffer finished 2-for-3 at the plate with two RBI. Santin also went 2-for-3 with one RBI and two stolen bases.

With the split, Cloud County is now 1-7 to start the season.

After eight games on the road to start the year, including two games against Southeast Community College that were originally scheduled to be at home but were relocated to Salina, Kansas because of poor field conditions, the T-Birds are finally home for their next four games. Cloud County will host Iowa Lakes Community College in a doubleheader on Sunday, March 2, beginning at 11 am. The T-Birds will follow up that doubleheader with a pair of games against Kansas Wesleyan JV on Tuesday, March 4, beginning at 1 pm.
