Box Score CONCORDIA, Kan. – Kicking off a three-match homestand to close out the 2019 regular-season, the number 11 ranked Cloud County Community College volleyball team would breeze past visiting Labette Community College in three sets for a 3-0 win inside of Arley Bryant Gymnasium on Friday, October 25th.
The win allows the T-Birds to bounce back from Wednesday evening's loss to improve to 22-7 overall and finish Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference play with a 5-5 overall record while the Cardinals fall to 2-30 overall and 0-9 in the KJCCC with two matches remaining in their season.
It wouldn't take long for CCCC to take control of the first set as Cloud County would take lead for good as part of an 8-0 after trailing 4-2 to go up 10-4. Labette would break the run momentarily but see the T-Birds keep pressure on with the lead growing to 21-11 as CCCC would close out the set on a 5-2 run to win the set 25-12.
In the second set, Cloud County would open things with a 4-0 run and race out to a 10-4 lead as the Cardinals would be unable to string together any points early on. With CCCC holding 21-9 lead, Labette would score three of the next four points and battle to 24-14 but found the early hole to be to big to overcome as Cloud County would win the set 25-15.
Labette would manage to keep things close in the early stages of the third set as the Cardinals would take two of the first three points before seeing the T-Birds respond with three of the next four points to take a 4-3 lead. CCCC's lead would grow to four at 11-7, and then take off as another 3-1 lead pushed the lead out to 14-8. Cloud County would then go on to put things away and close out the set on an 11-3 run and win the match convincingly.
Cloud County would finish the match by committing just six attack errors in the entire match, as Geraldyn Palacios would record 11 kills on 14 attempts with no attack errors. Dayana Chara would lead all players in the match with 18 kills while Riley Bontrager would record a double-double with 38 assists and a team-high 13 digs. The T-Birds would also add seven blocks and three service aces in the match as four different players recorded a block and six different players had at least one kill.

With their final two regular-season matches of the year coming outside of KJCCC play, the T-Birds will next play on Wednesday, October 30th at 6:30 p.m. when they host the University of Nebraska-Kearney JV team. The match will kick off the final week of the regular-season that finds CCCC hosting two matches prior to the start of postseason play.
