Iola, KS- The Cloud County Softball team dropped a doubleheader at Allen County in the first round of the Region VI Playoffs to bring their 2016 season to an end. Cloud lost game one 2-1 and fell 8-0 in the second game. 

The Cloud County bats went silent as the T-Birds mustered just seven hits in the two games combined. Cloud had come into the day winners of seven of their last eight and averaging seven runs per game during the stretch. 

Allen took the lead in the second inning of game one on a home run by Ashley Womack, her 18th of the season. They would push their only other run of the day across later in the inning. 

Cloud got one back in the fourth inning as Jaycee Worrell led off with a single. She would score on a sac fly from Leslie Schuetz to make it 2-1. Cloud had the tying run at second in the inning but couldn't cash in. Allen held on to win 2-1.

Bayleigh Cope went the distance in the loss. She scattered nine hits and struck out four.

Allen scored in every inning of game two as they ended the T-Birds season with an 8-0 five inning run rule. 

Lexi Duhrkop took the loss in the circle for Cloud. 

Bailey Dixon was 2-2 at the plate in game two. The T-Birds had just one other hit in the game. 

Cloud finishes the 2016 season at 17-21 overall.
