Box Score 2 Coffeyville, KS- The Cloud County softball team earned their third straight Jayhawk Conference road victory with a doubleheader sweep at Coffeyville Community College.
Cloud dominated the twinbill outscoring the Ravens 13-2 on the day. They won game one 7-1 and jumped ahead early to win game two 6-1.
The T-Birds got strong pitching performances from both Lexi Duhrkop and Bayleigh Cope. The duo has combined to throw every inning this season for the T-Birds. Duhrkop earned the win in game one going the distance and scattering 11 hits and two walks. She worked out of trouble all day, allowing just one run. Duhrkop stranded 11 Raven baserunners on the day.
Leslie Shuetz continued her hot hitting going 2-2 and reaching base four times. She drove in two runs as well.
Cloud got six early runs in game two to go ahead for good. Bayleigh Cope helped her own cause with an RBI double in the second. Cope silenced the Coffeyville bats for seven innings. She threw a complete game and earned her 4th win.
Cope has been excellent as of late. The Freshman is 3-1 in her last four starts allowing just five earned runs in 27 innings. She has also issued just one walk while striking out 13 during the 27 inning stretch.
Samantha Shafer and Jaycee Worrell each had four hits on the day.
Cloud is now 7-11 overall and 4-8 in Jayhawk play. They will finish their two day roadtrip with a doubleheader at Labette on Saturday April 2.
