Due to current course conditions and the weather forecast, the University of Nebraska announced Wednesday, September 16 that the 36th Annual Woody Greeno/Jay Dirksen Invitational set for Saturday, September 19 has been canceled.

The Cloud County men's and women's cross country teams will now compete on Saturday at the 2026 Missouri Southern Stampede at Tom Rutledge Cross Country Course in Joplin, Missouri.

In efforts to compete during cooler temperatures, the men's 8k race will begin first at 7:30 am. The women's 5k race will commence shortly after around 8:10 am.

The Cloud County men's cross country team started their 2026 season September 5 at the 78th annual JK Gold Classic at Clapp Cross Country Course in Wichita, Kansas.

Sophomore Davis Miltner was the top finisher for Cloud County, covering the 6k course with a time of 20:35.63 to finish in 40th place out of 103 runners.

Freshman Chevhoun Connolly followed in 41st place with a time of 20:42.12.

Rounding out the scorers for the T-Birds were sophomore Jesus Baltazar in 47th place with a time of 20:56.90, and freshman Maiwand Mohammad Rasool with a time of 21:22.30.

The Cloud County women's cross country squad had a solid showing with a fourth place team finish at the JK Gold Classic, tied with Butler Community College for the highest placing among two-year schools.

Sophomore Faith Jepchumba led the T-Birds with a top five finish of 19:09.06.

Freshman Scholastica Herman crossed the finish line next in sixth place at 19:15.39.

Freshman Breonna Peterson was 38th overall with a time of 21:14.65.

Other Cloud County finishers included freshman Kaiyanna Alexander in 46th place with a time of 21:57.55, freshman Isabelle Smith in 51st place with a time of 22:18.78, and freshman Rylie Jessup in 59th place with a time of 23:27.89.
