The Cloud County Community College men's cross country team will open the 2026 season ranked No. 18 in the preseason edition of the 2026 NJCAA Division I Men's Cross Country National Coaches' Poll, which was released Wednesday, September 2 by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA).

Last season, the T-Birds placed 23rd overall at the 2025 NJCAA Division I Cross Country Championships at Lakeside Golf Course in Fort Dodge, Iowa.

Cloud County is the fifth-highest ranked team from the Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference in the preseason poll, trailing No. 3 Hutchinson, No. 6 Butler, No. 12 Colby and No. 16 Garden City. The T-Birds are ranked ahead of No. 20 Dodge City and No. 24 Fort Hays Tech Northwest. Neosho County Community College and Coffeyville Community College are also receiving votes.

Cloud County opens the 2026 season on Saturday, September 5, making the trek south to Wichita, Kansas for the JK Gold Classic. The men's 6K race will begin at 7:30 am, followed by the women's 5K race at 8 am. More information, including live results, can be found here.
