The Cloud County Community College softball team faced the Hutchinson Blue Dragons in a non-conference doubleheader to close out the 2026 regular season. The T-Birds dropped both games, falling to the Blue Dragons 5-3 in the opening game and 5-4 in game two.

The T-Birds (19-19, 10-10 KJCCC) have drawn the No. 6 seed in the 2026 NJCAA Region 6 Division 2 Softball Plains District Tournament. Cloud County will face No. 3 Kansas City Kansas Community College in the opening round, slated for 3 pm Wednesday, May 6 at the JCCC Softball Field in Overland Park, Kansas.

Earlier this season, Cloud County snapped a five-game losing streak to the Kansas City Kansas Blue Devils, splitting a Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference (KJCCC) home doubleheader by earning a 5-3 victory in game two. The win marked Cloud County's first over a ranked opponent under head coach TJ Segebart

The T-Birds dropped the opener to Hutchinson, 5-3. Cloud County led 2-0 in the first inning after freshman designated player Maddie Harold drilled a two-run home run, scoring freshman outfielder Brooke Lougheed.

Hutchinson matched the scoring output in the bottom half of the first frame when sophomore outfielder Kaibryn Kruger smashed a two-run home run to tie the game at 2-2.

Kruger scored again in the third inning on a RBI single by freshman first baseman Hadley Topping. The Blue Dragons scored two additional runs in the fourth for a 5-2 lead.

Cloud County freshman second baseman Allison Adams homered to right field for her first home run of the season to make it 5-3 in the sixth.

The T-Birds finished with six hits, led by Lougheed's 2-for-4 performance. Lougheed had a double and a run scored.

Sophomore Berkleigh Curtis took the loss in the circle. Curtis threw six innings, allowing five runs, three earned, on seven hits with one walk and one strikeout.

Cloud County fell in another tightly-contested matchup in game two, 5-4.

The T-Birds opened the scoring in the top of the first inning when Harold connected on her second two-run home run of the day, scoring freshman outfielder Ava Boden. Harold has homered in four straight games and now has a team-leading 15 home runs on the season.

Boden drove in sophomore catcher Yesenia Zamarron on a RBI sacrifice fly to make it 3-0 in the top of the second inning.

Hutchinson answered in the bottom half of the second, scoring all five of their runs in the second frame. Kruger delivered the decisive swing with a two-run home to center field to push the Blue Dragons ahead 5-3.

Curtis ripped a a fourth inning double to center field, scoring Zamarron, to trim the deficit to 5-4.

Curtis, Boden and Harold each finished with two hits. Curtis and Boden both had doubles, while Harold drove in a pair of runs.

Harold took the loss. Harold pitched four innings, giving up five earned runs on seven hits with two walks and one strikeout. Boden threw two scoreless innings in relief, issuing one walk.
