The Cloud County Community College softball team has been projected to finish seventh in the Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference (KJCCC) Division II, the conference announced on Monday, January 26. The T-Birds received 55 points in the poll, which was voted on by the conference's head coaches.
Johnson County, the defending NJCAA Division II Softball Plains District Tournament Champions, were picked to top the conference with 127 points and eight first place votes. Cowley College, the defending KJCCC Division II Softball regular season champions, finished second with 116 points and two first place votes. Kansas City Kansas Community College was picked to finish third with 113 votes and one first place vote.
Cloud County is looking for continued improvement under second year head coach
TJ Segebart. The T-Birds finished ninth overall last season in the KJCCC with a 16-28 overall record and a 7-15 record in conference play. Cloud County had four All-Conference selections, all honorable mention picks, including returning short stop
Maliyah Koster and utility player
Emalee Johnson. The T-Birds graduated eight sophomores, including four that have signed with four-year colleges:
Paige Mahler (Buena Vista),
Shaylee Keslar (Bethany),
Harley Smith (Bethany), and
Camille Stauffer (Bethany).
The T-Birds open the 2026 season on Tuesday, February 17 when they take on Southeast Community College at home. Cloud County will open its KJCCC schedule on Thursday, March 26 with a home doubleheader against Coffeyville. The season culminates with the 2026 NJCAA Division II Plains District Softball Tournament, which is scheduled to take place May 6-10 on the campus of Johnson County Community College in Overland Park, Kansas. The winner of the double-elimination tournament will earn a bid into the 2026Â NJCAA Division II Softball World Series, which will take place May 18-23 at Tyger River Park in Spartanburg, South Carolina.
