Maimuna Jallow has been named the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association's (USTFCCCA) National Female Athlete of the Week, as announced by the organization on Monday, January 19.
Jallow, a native of Sare-Futa, Gambia, receives the honor after recording two first-place finishes and establishing two new meet records at the 2026 Washburn University Rust Buster in Topeka, Kansas on Friday, January 16.
In her first competition of 2026, Jallow set a facility record and a new meet record time of 7.30 in the 60-meter Dash, before later turning in another meet record time of 23.82 in the 200-meter Dash.
Jallow leads all of the NJCAA in the 60-meters and the 200-meters and has qualified for the NJCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships in both events. Jallow is also the NJCAA indoor record holder in the 60-meters (7.19) and the 200-meters (22.86). She ended her freshman indoor season with three of the top-six marks in NJCAA history in the 60-meters and two of the top-three in the 200-meters on her way to two national championships and recognition as the NJCAA Women's Indoor Track & Field National Track Athlete of the Year.
This is the eighth time that a female athlete from Cloud County has been named M-F Athletic National Athlete of the Week during the indoor season. Jallow joins
N Vanee Anchike (2024), Miracle Thompson (twice in 2023), Mercy Ntia-Obong (twice in 2021), Gabbreil Harris (2018) and Nayoka Clunis (2017) in that regard
Jallow and the Cloud County women's indoor track and field team return to action on Saturday, January 24 at the NAIA/JUCO Challenge in Pittsburg, Kansas.
