The Cloud County Community College women's cross country team will head north to Lincoln, Nebraska to compete in the Woody Greeno/Jay Dirksen Invitational for a 5K at Mahoney Park Golf Course on Saturday, September 20.
The T-Birds opened the 2025 campaign with the 77th annual JK Gold Classic in Wichita, Kansas on September 6. Cloud County had four runners finish the 5k race, led by a top 20 performance by sophomore
Nontokozo Ncube. Ncube placed 18th individually, running a time of 19:41.67. Ncube placed third among runners from two-year institutions. Freshman
McKenzie Baker placed 62nd as she crossed the finish line at 21:31.21. Sophomore
Rafiatu Nuhu was 81st overall with a time of 22:58.01. Rounding out the runners for Cloud County was freshman
Jade Williams who finished the race with a time of 26:04.64 to place 105th overall.
This weekend's meet will be scored in two divisions - the Red division (NCAA Division I), and the Gold division (NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III, NAIA & NJCAA). Joining the T-Birds on the course will be several other two-year schools, including Garden City, Iowa Central and Iowa Western.
The Woody Greeno/Jay Dirksen Invitational starts with the men's 8K race at 10 am, with the women's 5K immediately following at 10:50 am.
