Cloud County Women's Track and Field Team Wins Five National Championships, Finishes Fourth at NJCAA Indoor Championships

The Cloud County Community College women's track and field team concluded its indoor season with five national championships performances in the 2025 NJCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships on Friday, March 7 and Saturday, March 8 at the Sports Performance Center in Lubbock, Texas.

The T-Birds brought home a fourth-place finish with 84 points. Cloud County finished behind champion Iowa Western (114 points), Barton (105 points), and New Mexico Junior College (86 points). Cloud County finished ahead of Odessa College (63 points) to round out the top five.

Freshman sprinter Maimuna Jallow earned two first-place wins in the 60M and 200M.

Jallow won the 60M with a personal-record time of 7.19, establishing a new school record and a new NJCAA national indoor meet record, breaking the record previously held by Veronica Campbell Brown.

Jallow, from Sare-Futa, Gambia, then established a new program record, NJCAA national indoor meet record, and the indoor Gambia national record in the 200M Dash, crossing the finish line in a personal-record time of 22.86.

Jallow added to her honors by joining teammates Nontokozo Ncube, Mercy Angaamchaab and Rafiatu Nuhu in winning the 4x400M relay. The team established a new school record time of 3:39.09, which ranks as the second-fastest performance all-time in NJCAA indoors.

The Cloud County women's 4x800M relay team also set a new school record on their way to a national championship win. Ncube and Nuhu teamed with freshman Amanda Kotambe and sophomore N Vanee Anchike to place first overall, crossing the finish line in a time of 9:05.21.

Ncube and Anchike also competed in the 800M Run. Ncube won the event in a time of 2:12.54, while Anchike placed fourth individually in a time of 2:14.11.

The T-Birds Distance Medley relay team of Ncube, Anchike, Angaamchaab and Nuhu placed third overall in a time of 11:49.94.

Angaamchaab and Kotambe represented Cloud County in the 600M Run. Angaamchaab placed fourth overall in a time of 1:33.99, while Kotambe followed in fifth place with a time of 1:35.17.

Kotambe added a sixth place individual finish in the 1,000M Run, turning in a time of 3:02.79. Anchike followed in seventh place, finishing the race in a time of 3:04.69.

Also on the track, sophomore Chenessa Davis earned a third place finish in the 60M Hurdles, tying her personal-record with a time of 8.50.

In field events, sophomore Bradie Medina tied for seventh place individually in the Pole Vault with a vault of 10'11.75".

Sophomore Cordaelia Williams posted a top-ten finish in the High Jump, tying for ninth by clearing a height of 5'1.75".

Freshman Tahlia Lienert rounded out the scoring for the T-Birds, placing seventh in the Pentathlon with a total of 3,042 points.

The Cloud County women's track and field team will have a two-week break before opening the outdoor season at the 2025 Bethel College Invitational on Saturday, March 22 at Bethel College Thresher Stadium in Newton, Kansas.
