The Cloud County Community College women's indoor track and field team claimed the 2025 Region 6 Indoor Championship title on Sunday, February 23 at Robert W. Plaster Center in Pittsburg, Kansas.

The T-Birds finished the meet with 175.5 points with nine region championships and six runner-up finishes.

Sophomore N Vanee Anchike was the Top Point getter at the meet after she claimed first place finishes in four separate events.

Anchike won the Women's 5,000M Run with a time of 17:36.03.

Anchike claimed another region title in the Women's One Mile Run, with a time of 5:19.60. Sophomore teammate Mercy Angaamchaab was second in the race with a time of 5:20.03, while freshman teammate Amanda Kotambe took fourth individually with a time of 5:26.03.

Anchike added to her list of region titles by winning the Women's 3,000M Run with a time of 10:28.33. Kotambe placed fifth with a time of 10:55.86.

Anchike was also part of the Women's 4,000M Distance Medley team that earned a region championship. Joined by teammates Angaamchaab and sophomores Rafiatu Nuhu and Nontokozo Ncube, Cloud County won the medley with a time of 12:06.51.

Cloud County also took home the Women's 4x800M Relay title. The team of Angaamchaab, Kotambe, and sophomores Jaelyn Rumback and Joella Mathilda turned in a time of 9:58.23 to place first overall.

Ncube, the 2025 Region 6 Track Athlete of the Meet, added region titles in the Women's 600M Run and the Women's 800M Run.

Ncube won the 600M Run with a time of 1:33.78. Freshman Nanhi Pannu followed in fourth place with a time of 1:39.75, while freshman Tahlia Lienert was seventh overall with a time of 1:43.46.

Ncube claimed the 800M Run title with a time of 2:14.21. Angaamchaab placed third in the event, running a time of 2:16.26.

Freshman Maimuna Jallow laid claim to the Women's 200M Dash title. Jallow crossed the finish line in 24.05 to place first overall. Nuhu was sixth in the race with a time of 24.75.

In field events, sophomore Chenessa Davis reached the top spot on the podium after winning the Women's High Jump. Davis cleared 4'11.75" to take first overall. Sophomore Cordaelia Williams placed third in the event at a height of 4'11.75".

Davis and Jallow both added runner-up performances in the Women's 60M Hurdles and the Women's 60M Dash, respectively. Davis placed second in the 60M Hurdles with a time of 8.54. Jallow registered a second place finish in the 60M Dash with a time of 7.38.

Nuhu added a second place finish in the Women's 400M Dash, finishing the race with a time of 54.97.

In the women's pole vault, sophomore Bradie Medina recorded a second place finish at a height of 11'0".

Lienert earned a second place overall finish in the Women's Indoor Pentathlon, after finishing first in the 60M Hurdles, second in the 800M Run, third in the Long Jump, and fifth in the High Jump and Shot Put. Freshman teammate Carlie Carlgren was sixth overall in the Women's Indoor Pentathlon.

Other top ten finishes from the weekend included freshman Nele Goesl posting a sixth place finish in the Women's Triple Jump (35'6.5") and an eighth place finish in the Women's Long Jump (16'11.25"). Davis was ninth individually in the Women's Long Jump (16'11.25"). And sophomore Vivica Addison added a tenth place finish in the Women's Weight Throw with a toss of 45'6".

Cloud County also won the 2025 Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference West Championship with 212 points.

Following their performance in the Region 6 Indoor Track & Field Championships, coach Drew Mahin was named the 2025 Women's Coach of the Year.

Up next, the T-Birds prepare for the 2025 NJCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships to be held March 7-8 at the Sports Performance Center in Lubbock, Texas.
