                    Box Score The Cloud County Community College volleyball team (5-16, 0-10 KJCCC) came up short in four sets (25-23, 18-25, 22-25, 21-25) to Seward County Wednesday, October 9 at Arley Bryant Gymnasium.
The T-Birds came out ready to play in the first set, fighting through an early four point differential to tie the match on five separate occasions. Cloud County broke loose late, capturing its biggest lead of the set at 23-19 on a point by freshman setter 
Maria Clara Lopes Miranda. Seward County attempted a comeback, tying the match at 23-all. Sophomore outside hitter 
Bradie Medina recorded a kill. Medina followed with a service ace to give the T-Birds the 25-23 win.
The Saints began the second set with a 4-1 lead. Cloud County took its first lead of the set at 8-7 following a kill by sophomore middle hitter 
Emery May and a service ace by sophomore 
Ashley Suter. Seward County retook the lead but Cloud County quickly regrouped, tying the game at 17-all after another ace by Suter and a block by May. The Saints recovered and put together a 7-1 scoring run to close out a 25-22 win.
Cloud County controlled much of the third set, leading by as many as four points at seven different intervals, the last of which was a 16-12 advantage following back-to-back kills by May. After the Saints battled back to the tie the set at 18, the T-Birds regained control, going up 21-18 following a kill by Medina, an ace by Miranda, and a hitting error on Seward County. Once again, the Saints found their offensive flow late in the game, rebounding to post another 7-1 scoring run to score a 25-22 win.
The fourth set featured seven ties. Cloud County had an early 7-4 lead following three straight points by freshman outside hitter 
Grace Rowland. The T-Birds later held another three point advantage at 19-16 following two aces by freshman libero 
Beatrice Giusti sandwiched by a point from Medina. Seward County ultimately fought back to the tie the set at 20, and the Saints scored nine of the final eleven points to pick up the 25-21 win.
Medina led the T-Birds with 18 kills and 16 digs. Rowland posted 14 kills, six digs and one block assist. Sophomore 
Kloë Waymel chipped in four kills and five digs. May notched three kills, four digs and a team-high five blocks. Freshmen 
Carlie Carlgren and 
Savana Krupicka also had three kills each.
Krupicka also tallied a team-high 20 assists. Miranda added 13 assists.
Defensively, Giusti had a team-high 23 digs. Suter provided six digs, while freshman 
Berkleigh Curtis finished with four digs.
The T-Birds continue conference play by traveling to Dodge City on Saturday, October 12 at 6:30 pm.
