Cloud County Volleyball Sweeps Pair Of Matches At Southeast CC Triangular

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 BEATRICE, Neb. – Making quick work of two matches, the Cloud County Community College volleyball team would finish off a six-match road swing with a pair of 3-0 sweeps by defeating the York University JV team and Southeast Community College inside the Truman Center Gymnasium in Beatrice, Nebraska on Monday, October 2nd.

Running their record to 18-6 overall, the T-Birds finish the road trip with five victories while having won nine of their past nine matches. The 18 wins thus far is the most since a 23-9 season that was posted by the 2019 CCCC volleyball squad and most while playing at the NJCAA Division I level since 2015 when Cloud County went 22-12. In their opening match of the day against York JV, CCCC would post a 25-7, 25-10, 25-9 win before taking down the host Bobcats in the final match of the Monday triangular with a 25-17, 25-15, 25-7 victory.

Statistical leaders against the Panthers would see three different players for Cloud County finish with an attack percentage over .500 as the T-Birds hit .518 as a team with 34 kills on 56 attack attempts. Recording a team-best eight kills on 11 swings would be freshman Emery May who would also have two blocks while Madison Ronnebaum finished with seven kills and had five total blocks (four assisted, one solo). Both Katelynn Brogan and Ashley Suter would provide 14 set assists and five digs apiece while Brette Doile would be the lone player for CCCC with double-figure digs (11).

Another strong offensive outing in the nightcap would see Cloud County record 45 kills and commit just seven attack errors on 84 attack attempts to finish with a .452 attack percentage with four different T-Birds accounting for a majority of the production. A nine-kill performance from Doga Eski would lead CCCC as the sophomore would be one three players to finish with at least eight kills and no attack errors after being joined by Ronnebaum and Kloë Waymel who both had eight kills and attack percentages over .600. Cloud County would also get seven kills apiece from Brogan and Bradie Medina as seven different players in the match for CCCC would have at least three kills. On the defensive side of things, both Medina (14) and Brogan (13) would finish in double-figures in digs to help lead the way alongside a 13-dig outing from Doile. The T-Birds would also record four total blocks, with both May and Eski recording a solo block each.

What's Next?
Six of Cloud County's next eight matches will come at home and begins on Wednesday, October 4th when CCCC plays host to Colby Community College at 6:30 PM. The match will be the second time that the Trojans and T-Birds have squared off this season, with Colby taking a 3-0 victory in Colby as part of the opening week of Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference play. As things currently stand, Colby holds a one-half game lead over Cloud County for the all-important fourth spot in the KJCCC as the top-four teams at the end of the regular season will secure first-round home playoff matches.
