Box Score 2 The Cloud County Community College baseball team recorded its fourth Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference (KJCCC) sweep of the season after defeating Seward County Community College in a home doubleheader, 10-0 in six innings and 13-4 in nine innings, on Saturday, May 2 at Lee Doyen Field in Concordia, Kansas.
The T-Birds conclude the regular season with a 47-5 overall record and a 28-4 mark in KJCCC play.
Postseason play begins with a best-of-three series in the opening round of the 2026 NJCAA Division I Plains District Tournament May 7-9. Cloud County is the No. 2 seed and will face No. 15 seed Highland in Concordia on Thursday, May 7 at 2 pm. Game two will be played Friday, May 8 at 1 pm. If necessary, game three will be played Saturday, May 9 at 1 pm.
Cloud County hit five home runs in a 10-0 run-rule victory over Seward County in game one of Saturday's doubleheader. Freshman outfielder
Kellan Burke homered three times in the game, blasting a two-run home run in the bottom of the first before adding solo shots in the third and sixth frames. Burke's lead-off home run in the sixth gave the T-Birds a walk-off and series win. Cloud County previously beat Seward County by final scores of 9-1 and 13-12 on April 29.
Freshman
London Dingwell went deep for the T-Birds in the second inning, while redshirt freshman
Simon Baker hit his team-leading 18th home run of the season in the third. The contest marked Cloud County's eighth game this season with five or more home runs.
That backed another strong start from sophomore
Cohen Nelson, who improved to 5-0 on the year by allowing no runs on three hits in 4.2 innings. Nelson issued just one walk while striking out ten. He now has 10 or more strikeouts in three of his last four starts.
Sophomore
Evan Bogart allowed no runs on one hit in 1.1 innings for the T-Birds, who have won seven straight against Seward County.
Cloud County registered 11 hits, led by Burke's 4-for-4 performance. Burke, who added an infield single in the fourth to his three home runs, scored three times and finished with four RBI.
Sophomores
Joey Marino and
Vasya Seymour both had two hits and scored two runs apiece. Sophomore
Lucas Laukkanen added three RBI, including two on a double to right-center field in the bottom of the fifth inning.
Burke hit his fourth home run of the doubleheader with a lead-off shot in the bottom of the fourth, but the T-Birds trailed 2-1 entering the bottom of the fifth inning.
Cloud County soon pulled ahead with a nine-run fifth frame.
Redshirt freshman outfielder
Tanner Jacobson got the rally started with a one-out triple to center field. Sophomore third baseman
Kaden Budke followed with a RBI single to center, tying the game at 2-2.
After Laukkanen was hit-by-a-pitch and Baker singled to center to load the bases, Burke laced a two-RBI single to right field, scoring Budke and Laukkanen.
Freshman outfielder
Nolan Green's sacrifice fly scored Baker to make it 5-2.
Sophomore first baseman
Luke Clayton kept the inning going with a two-out RBI single to left field, driving in Burke.
Following a pitching change, Marino drilled a triple to right field, scoring Clayton.
Sophomore outfielder
Zach Miller followed by drawing a walk, before Jacobson collected his second extra-base hit of the inning, smacking a double off the wall in left field, bringing home both Marino and Miller to extend Cloud County's lead to 9-2.
The T-Birds reloaded the bases when Budke and Laukkanen drew back-to-back walks, leading to a second pitching change for Seward County in the fifth.
Baker, the 14th batter of the inning, reached on another walk, scoring Jacobson.
A ground out by Burke left three runners stranded at the end of the inning.
The T-Birds added a run in the sixth when sophomore outfielder
Carter Cathers reached on a walk and later scored on a passed ball.
Cathers led-off the eighth inning with a triple to left and scored a run. Freshman infielder
Kale Koch added a solo home run in the eighth.
Baker, Budke, Burke and Jacobson all had two hit days. Burke and Jacobson both scored two runs, while Burke finished with a team-high three RBI.
Sophomore
Cole Linton started the game and earned the win. Linton lasted five innings and gave up two runs on six hits with nine strikeouts, moving to 8-0 on the year. Sophomores

Cooper Tannahill pitched a third of an inning, allowing two runs on two hits in the seventh inning.
