Cloud County Wrestling Team at 2026 NJCAA Wrestling Championships

The 2025-2026 season for the Cloud County Community College wrestling team ended at the 2026 NJCAA Wrestling Championships at the Mid-America Center in Council Bluffs, Iowa on Friday, March 6.

Cloud County freshman Brayden Hill reached the championship quarterfinals at 285 lbs. After receiving a first round bye, Hill recorded a win by fall over Joel Marchand of Andrew College in his second round bout, followed by another win by fall over Joshua King of Harper College. In the quarterfinals, Hill dropped a 4-2 decision to Citto Tuttle of Rochester Community and Technical College. Hill closed out the tournament with a 9-5 loss via decision to Hunter Tibodeau of Big Bend Community College.

Freshman Tyler Pankey registered two wins at 197 lbs. After receiving a first round bye, Pankey posted a win by fall over Sonnie Deheer of Rochester Community and Technical College in his second round match. Pankey lost a 12-3 major decision to Andrew Marquez of Indian Hills Community College in the third round, before bouncing back with a win by fall over Damien Spears of Iowa Lakes Community College in a consolation bout. Pankey's tournament run ended with a 7-5 decision loss to Anthony Evangelista of Camden County College.

Freshman Luke Potter and sophomore Micah Cauthers also won two matches at the national championships.

Potter (133 lbs.) received a first round bye before picking up a disqualification win over Hoyt Hvass of North Idaho College. After losing by fall to Miles Anderson of Southeast Community College in the third round, Potter fought back to claim a 16-2 major decision over Talon Suttles of Colby Community College. Potter's final match was a 16-4 major decision loss to Joseph Ramirez of Nassau Community College.

Cauthers (174 lbs.) also drew a first round bye before falling by a 20-4 technical fall to Trevor Streeter of Muskegon Community College in the second round. In the consolation bracket, Cauthers posted a fall over Romarion Farquharson of Minnesota West Community and Technical College, followed by an 11-2 decision over Tyson Poyer of Harper College. Cauthers' weekend ended with a 17-0 technical fall loss to Nate Jean of Murray State College.

Freshman Dakota Gibson (141 lbs.) and sophomore Noah Bailey (149 lbs.) added one win each at the tournament. Gibson tallied a consolation win by fall over Camden Hull of Garrett College, while Bailey won a sudden victory 14-11 decision over Josiah Wickard of Snow College.

Sophomore Jacob Vasquez (165 lbs.) went 0-2 in his first career trip to the national tournament.
