The Cloud County Community College baseball team swept both legs of a doubleheader over Dodge City Community College at Cavalier Field on Thursday, March 26, first claiming a 13-0 run-rule victory over the Conquistadors in five innings before a 7-4 win in the second game to open the Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference (KJCCC) series.

The T-Birds (28-2, 13-1 KJCCC) will host Dodge City for two more games on Saturday, March 28. First pitch between the T-Birds and the Conquistadors is scheduled for 1 pm from Lee Doyen Field in Concordia, Kansas.

Sophomore pitcher Stocton Timbrook allowed five hits in five shutout innings of work for his fourth complete game victory of the season. Timbrook had three strikeouts in improving to 5-0 on the year. Timbrook is one of just two T-Birds to pitch a complete game this season.

Cloud County scored 10 runs through the first two innings and added one run each in the third, fourth and fifth.

The T-Birds had 16 hits, led by three hits each from sophomores Kaden Budke, Joey Marino and Lucas Laukkanen. Budke was 3-for-5 with two RBI and a run scored. Marino went 3-for-4 with a double, two runs scored and one RBI. Laukkanen, the current KJCCC West Division Player of the Week, went 3-for-4 with a team-high three RBI and one run scored.

Freshmen Kellan Burke and Brody Seidl each finished with two RBI. Burke had two hits with a double. Sophomore first baseman Luke Clayton also had a double and scored twice.

Cloud County extended its current win streak to six games with a 7-4 victory in the second game of the twinbill.

The T-Birds struck first when Burke doubled to score Budke and Seidl to take a 2-0 lead in the top of the third inning.

Cloud County took control in the fourth inning. The T-Birds loaded the bases with two outs when Seidl singled to score redshirt freshman outfielder Evan Gunn and freshman outfielder Tanner Jacobson, pushing the lead to 4-0. Redshirt freshman designated hitter Simon Baker added a two-RBI single to drive in Seidl and Budke to move the T-Birds ahead 6-0.

After a scoreless fifth, Cloud County added an additional run in the sixth. Gunn tripled to lead off the inning and later scored on an RBI single by Budke.

The game remained 7-0 before Dodge City managed to score four runs on four hits in the bottom of the ninth inning before Cloud County closed out the win.

Cloud County finished with 10 hits in the game. Budke led the offense with three hits including a double, two runs scored and one RBI. Marino collected two hits, including a double. Seidl added one hit, two RBI and two runs scored. Gunn had a triple and also scored a pair of runs.

On the mound, freshman Ian Razak earned the win, allowing no runs on eight hits over six innings while striking out five. Freshman Jackson Fox recorded two scoreless innings in relief, and sophomore Kai Rempel closed the game, allowing two runs on three hits in the ninth.
