Box Score 2 After beginning the 2026 season with a pair of wins at a round-robin invitational in Tyler, Texas on Friday, February 6, the Cloud County Community College baseball team took the field at Mike Carter Field for a second-consecutive day, closing out the four-game event with a pair of wins over host Tyler Junior College and Arkansas State University-Mountain Home. The T-Birds defeated the Apaches, 6-2, before grabbing a 4-2 come-from-behind victory against the Trailblazers.
The victories move Cloud County to 4-0 to start the season, matching their similar 4-0 start in 2025.
Cloud County posted eight hits in game one and broke a scoreless tie with two runs in the fifth, one run in the sixth and three more runs in the seventh. Freshman catcher
Kellan Burke went 2-for-2 at the plate with a pair of doubles and one run scored. Sophomore short stop
Lucas Laukkanen also finished with two hits and one run scored, crossing home plate in the fifth on a defensive throwing error by Tyler. Sophomores
Kaden Budke and
Joey Marino and freshman
Broxton Barrientos each registered RBI. Budke and Barrientos both contributed a run scored, as did sophomore
Carter Cathers and redshirt freshman
Tanner Jacobson.
Sophomore
Cohen Nelson went 2.1 innings on the mound, striking out three and walking three. Sophomore
Kai Rempel earned the win by sitting down four in 2.2 innings. Sophomore
Hayden Malaise added a strikeout, while freshman
Ian Razak recorded his first save of the season, facing eight batters in 1.2 innings of work.
Cloud County's second game on Saturday was tied at 2-all entering the bottom of the fifth before sophomore catcher
Vasya Seymour hit a go-ahead two-run double to left field to give the T-Birds the lead. After permitting two runs in the top of the first inning, Cloud County held Arkansas State University-Mountain Home off the scoreboard in the final six frames.
Seymour had one of four doubles for the T-Birds in the win. Budke, Burke and Marino also tallied doubles, with Burke and Marino finishing the contest with two hits each.
Freshman
Jackson Fox registered a no-decision in his first start of the season, allowing two earned runs on three hits while walking one and striking out four in four innings on the mound. Freshman
Jacob McAdams earned the win, striking out two in one inning of work. Freshman
Gage Gannon collected the save with a two-inning cameo, retiring six straight batters while giving up no hits and no walks.
After a busy season-opening weekend, Cloud County will now prepare for its home opener on Thursday, February 12. The T-Birds will host Kansas Wesleyan University JV for a doubleheader beginning at 1 pm at Lee Doyen Field at the Concordia Sports Complex.
